COURSE NOTES:

NO Firearms or ammunition should be brought to this course!

ALL firearms, ammunition, course books and materials, continental breakfast and luncheon will be provided.

All LBRA Junior Division Members (and those students who join LBRA) will be issued club air rifles and supplies for their custody, upon successful completion of this course. Those members desiring to participate in this custody program must provide a hard-side case in which to carry the rifle. A parent or guardian must sign the custody receipt for the rifle.

All Boy Scouts desiring BSA Rifle Shooting Merit Badge certification signature by our authorized BSA Counselor should bring a blue merit badge application card- signed by their Scoutmaster.

The BSA Rifle Shooting Merit Badge Book will be the text book for this course, along with other support material and publications. While these materials will be provided at the course, all interested students are encouraged to review the text prior to the course date.

Practical Training Sessions

11:00AM to 12:00 Noon Practical Training Sessions Number 1 through 8

(students will complete 3 of 8 sessions)

1:00PM to 3:40PM Practical Training Sessions Number 1 through 8

(students will complete remaining 5 of 8 sessions)

The class consisting of 48 students will be organized into groups of 6 students each. Each student will be provided with a Practical Training Sessions- Qualification Card. Each student must complete all 8 of the sessions and receive the signature of each session instructor. This completed card must then be submitted to the Chief Instructor for final approval.

Session #1 Range Live Firing Exercises & Qualification

Asst. Range Safety Officer- Ms. Kris Voit (LBRA)

Live Firing- Rifle (.22 Long Rifle caliber)

Using a .22 caliber rimfire rifle and shooting from a benchrest or supported prone position

at 50 feet, fire five groups (three shots per group) that can be covered by a quarter.

Using these targets, explain how to adjust sights to zero.

Adjust sights to center the group on the target and fire five groups (five shots per group).

According to the target used, each shot in the group must meet the following minimum score: (1) A-32 targets -- 9; (2) A-17 or TQ-1 targets -- 7; (3) A-36 targets -- 5.

Hosted at the Seitzland Rifle Club, clubhouse and range located in New Freedom, PA

Presented by the Long Branch Rifle Association, Inc. and Seitzland Rifle Club in partnership with the National Rifle Association of America

This Shotgun Match to be held at the Seitzland Rifle Club in New Freedom PA, on May 8, 2004. The match will be shot using a shotgun of any type (Over/Under, Side by Side, Single Shot, Pump or Automatic) 12 gauge or smaller. Ammunition, clay targets, target throwers, and shotguns- as needed- will be provided by LBRA.

The Match Director is Walt McCamish. The Chief Range Officer is Gene Hicks. Range Officers and Instructors will include Gary Hicks, David Andrews, Dan Comp, John Voit, Lloyd Parker, Jim Faughn and Richard Garvine.

COURSE OF FIRE
Each shooter will be assigned a relay. Each relay will consist on 12 shooters. Two mechanical clay target throwing stations will be used, each serving 6 shooters on the line.
Each shooter will fire 25 shots in rotational order per relay. Each shooter will fire in two relays- a total of fifty shots.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The club, and our guests, will meet for breakfast at the McDonalds in Forest Hill (Red Pump Road and US24) at 7:30-7:45, then head up to the Seitzland Rifle Club together.
Departure from McDonalds is promptly at 7:45AM!
